STOP the all female remakes

I don’t know how the MODs of this site will react as I’m not really reviewing or commenting on a single movie, but I’ll try and see how it goes.

Enough, seriously ENOUGH with remaking all male cast movies with all female casts. It doesn’t work, it hasn’t worked and it never will work. There are a whole bunch of reasons why, not it’s not misogny, that has nothing to do with anything.

Both the Ghostbusters and Ocean’s series of movies were greatly beloved. They both had primarily male casts and one was a comedy the other sort of a comedy/action heist movie. Sorry but generally speaking women aren’t as funny as men. It’s just the way it is, not saying that there aren’t exceptions to that rule, but it holds true most of the time.

On top of that, these movies are classics and part of the reason was the way the casts interacted and the fans fell in love with them. All you are doing when you remake them with women is saying a number of things I don’t think you really want to.

First of all it seems like Hollywood can’t come up with any quality all female driven story lines so they are trying to “update” all male movies. These remakes are going to be instantly compared to the more successful original movies, which is not a good thing.

Maybe more important is the fact that the more the studios do this the more they are going to turn people off, it’s like they are trying to lose money at this point. Then oddly enough they complain when these movies fail at the box office. They went on and on about how Ocean’s 8 open as the highest grossing movie of the series. They fail to mention they used 2018 dollars vs. 2001 dollars for Ocean’s 11, do the adjusted for inflation calculations and let’s see how things look then.

Plus they never bothered to note that the Oceans 11, had a 40 year old George Clooney, 37 year old Brad Pitt and a 30 year old Matt Damon. These were the main characters, where as in the all female remake they had their three main female leads at 49, 52 and 54 years of age. No offense as I really like Sandra Bullock but they had no women in their prime with the sort of star power that Oceans 11 did.

Then of course when Oceans 8, doesn’t make killer money at the box office, what do they blame it on? Men.. yeah no shit as clearly pointed out in THIS VIDEO the stars blamed white men for the poor reviews.

Honestly let’s just give it a rest, make movies people want to see, not that YOU want them to like it doesn’t work that way. Haven’t you learned your lesson yet, I guess not as they are now making an all female Terminator movie…… *sigh*
